The Wonder of Jesus SERMON STARTER Have you ever heard someone exclaim with joy, "Wonderful!"? Certain words, when they're uttered enough become clichés, that is they become meaningless phrases. The people marveled and wondered at the events told them by the shepherds of the field. The appearance of angels with divine announcements caused them to be afraid and they marveled at the incredible sights and sounds of heaven. The wonder of Jesus is why He would love us so much. We are so unworthy of His love. The most "wonderful" verse in the entire Bible is John 3:16, "For God so love the world. . ." His love for us is marvelous, wonderful, awesome and more. This sermon explores an important aspect of his first Advent.

HE BECAME POOR THAT WE MIGHT BECOME RICH The Wonder of Jesus
Jesus emptied Himself of His Glory in order that we might experience the Glory of God. He gave up all in order that we might receive all. Jesus became friendless in this world in order to prove Himself a friend of sinners. He walked a lonely path in order that we might find the pathway of eternal life. Jesus was willing that all men forsake Him, that we might have fellowship with God. He walked up Golgatha's hill that we might walk down streets of gold. Jesus wore a crown of thorns that we might wear a crown of glory. He wore a purple robe in order that we might be clothed with His spotless Righteousness. Jesus became poor that we might become rich. He suffered that we might reign. Jesus entered into death that we might enter into life eternal. He was laid in a grave that we might have victory from the grave.
